Papermaking with Garden Plants & Common Weeds: $14.95
Hiebert’s basic papermaking techniques, laid out in illustrated step-by-step instructions, make it easy to blend and shape a variety of organic papers from such common plants as hosta, milkweed, and thistledown, as well as the more unusual pineapple, yucca, and seaweed. She describes how to collect, harvest, and process the plant fibers and then create sheets using both Western and Japanese techniques.
The Papermaker’s Companion: $18.95
With clear, easy-to-follow instructions and step-by-step illustrations, expert Helen Hiebert covers every imaginable aspect of creating one-of-a-kind papers and using those papers in fun, creative, and beautiful ways. With techniques ranging from beginning to advanced, this essential handbook is sure to be one that paper crafters return to again and again.
Paper Illuminated: $19.95
A candle, a light bulb, or natural daylight illuminating a translucent sheet of paper can create surprises by casting a shadow through holes onto another surface, illuminating a subtle pattern in the paper, or showing off a batiked design. As the popularity of handmade paper grows, this unique book takes the paper crafter beyond stationery, cards, and journals to innovative designs for using colored and textured paper to make striking three-dimensional home furnishings: luminaria, lanterns, room divider screens, sconces, lampshades, nightlights, window shades, and more.

Water Paper Time: $30
Water Paper Time is an intimate examination of the organic, non-static, sculptural, and time-based qualities of Helen Hiebert’s process in papermaking. Working with paper pulp, she initiates a deliberate action—embedding a string between two wet sheets, cutting a hole in or nailing a wet sheet to the wall—to interrupt the papermaking process and irrevocably alter the sheet of paper. Filmmaker Gretchen Hogue documents the metamorphosis of each sheet from a flat sheet into a sculptural, three-dimensional object through time-lapse photography on film. An original soundtrack by Kell Black accompanies the works as they briefly come alive (the paper rips, puckers, shrinks) and ultimately freeze in place. The artist also talks about her motives, influences and processes.
There is a Thread Broadside: $175
2010. Edition of 50. 18” x 12”, abaca paper, hemp thread, letterpress printing by Sandy Tilcock.
The Text Featured on this Broadside: There is a Thread by William Stafford
There's a thread you follow. It goes among things that change. But it doesn't change. People wonder about what you are pursuing. You have to explain about the thread. But it is hard for others to see. While you hold it you can't get lost. Tragedies happen; people get hurt or die; and you suffer and get old. Nothing you do can stop time's unfolding. You don't ever let go of the thread.
